Chris Atkins is the Chief Executive Officer of TasBuild Limited a position he has held since 2009 and prior to that held the position of Executive Director of Master Builders Tasmania.
Chris has worked for a significant period of time managing industry related businesses and holds
qualifications in business, law, accounting and training.
He began his working career in Devonport in 1974 as an apprentice electrical mechanic, shortly after receiving his “A Grade” licence he changed career path and commence working for the Australian Customs Service (now Border Protection) in 1978, stationed in Melbourne.
Chris was transferred with Customs to Hobart in 1980 and has worked in Tasmania ever since. In 1989 he was appointed to an Executive Officer position with Master Builders Tasmania and in 2000 was promoted to the Executive Directors position, a position he held until he left in 2009 to take up the CEO role with TasBuild Limited.
He has previously held positions on the following Boards and Committees:
- Building Group Apprenticeship,
- Tasmanian Building and Construction Industry Training Board,
- Tasmanian Government Procurement Advisory Group, and
- Tasmanian Building Industry Council.
Chris holds a Graduate Diploma in Construction law from the University of Melbourne, a Trade Certificate in Electrical Mechanics, an Associate Diploma of Business (Accounting) and a Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Public Accountants and a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
